Vintage Railroad Dining Car China: Oval Serving Platter by Shenango China, Northern Dogwood (White) Pattern.
In very good condition.
Clean with no chips, cracks, stains, or crazing.
A few minor scratches/utensil marks from normal use.
Length: 11 ⅜”
Width: 8 ¼”
Made in the USA: New Castle, PA.
This plate has the number “3480” on the back - I have other pieces with this same number - maybe the train they were used on?

Interesting Fact: In the 1930s a number of railroad lines adopted patterns that depicted flowers of the region they served. With the advent of streamliners in the late 1930s, the new trains were furnished with complementary china patterns that furthered the image of modernity.
